Mutiny Bay History

The story behind the creation of Mutiny Bay Adventure Golf is one of family fun. While you’ll see rough and tough pirates filling our mini golf course, inside you will find friends and family upholding traditional family fun.

A History of Outer Banks Fun & Amusement Parks

Sandra Dowdy, along with her son and grandson, Darnell and Devin Tillett, own and manage Mutiny Bay Adventure Golf. They are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations maintaining the family’s commitment to providing family fun for Outer Banks visitors!

This family’s interest in providing quality entertainment began with Dowdy’s Amusement Park in Nags Head. Sandra’s parents, Joe and Melva Dowdy, owned and operated Dowdy’s between the years of 1963-2005, beginning a tradition of bringing smiles and memories to generations of Outer Banks visitors.

Locals and vacationers alike hold fond memories of the giant ferris wheel holding court on a corner of the bypass. And the old race track still exists today at Full Throttle Speedway.

Outer Banks Family Owned Mini Golf Course

Today the Dowdy and Tillett families continue this tradition of providing good times for families visiting the Outer Banks. They take pride in the beautifully landscaped and detailed mini golf course and strive to provide a fun experience for all visitors.

Mutiny Bay is more than just your typical mini golf course- we are adventure golf, giving you the makings of the best family fun and memories you can find!
